At OpéraSport, among centuries-old regal statues, red was reimagined as a royal flush through a double act of audacious scarlet hues paired with luminous, sculpted skin
The Lapidarium of Kings (a 400-year-old brewhouse once belonging to King Christian IV) set a majestic stage for OpéraSport’s autumn/winter '25 show. Surrounded by 300 statues sourced from Denmark’s royal gardens and palaces, models traversed the historic hall wearing pieces drawn from Art Deco geometry and royal refinement. The palette ranged from deep royal blue and burgundy to crème brûlée and crisp white.
Backstage, the talented artists took that regal energy and translated it into two standout beauty looks, anchored by a vibrant take on vermillion. “The inspiration was, first and foremost, glowy, healthy-looking skin,” says Tanja Largré, co-founder of the Danish makeup brand Miild who sponsored the show. “From there, we wanted to match the tones and vibe of the collection." One of the standout colours in the collection was the aforementioned deep red, which became a key element in Miild's makeup look — smudged on the lips or the cheeks to bring warmth and dimension.
In fact, a soon-to-launch Tinted Beauty Balm in that same sumptuous shade served as the hero product — “It’s the heart of this look” Largré says about the yet-to-be-released product. Next, a translucent loose setting powder locked in every luminous detail. “We relied on Skin Light Translucent Loose Setting Powder," says Largré. "It locks everything in place while keeping the skin looking fresh and natural."
Finishing touches involved subtle contouring and brightening techniques around the eyes, ensuring each model’s unique features stood out amid the brewhouse’s moody lighting. Even in a setting this dramatic, there was room for personal flair: “We adjusted the look slightly to suit each model,” Largré notes. “That final touch of personalisation is what makes a look truly come to life.”
