For the brand’s very first outdoor show, nature served as OpéraSport's muse, naturally
This season OpéraSport's co-designers Stephanie Gundelach and Awa Malina Stelter found their muse in mother nature: the billowing clouds, earthy landscapes, blooming flowers and golden sunlight serving as creative fuel. "The vision for the collection was ignited by the captivating shapes and colours we experienced during the early spring and high summer," the creative duo explained.
Held at the picturesque Østre Anlæg in Copenhagen, the show itself aligned with the collection's nature theme. As the duo told us ahead of the show: "We are having the show outside for the first time, which is creating such a different atmosphere.” The duo points out that they want nature to speak for itself as the main inspiration for the collection. “When it all comes together, surrounded by the green trees and the (hopefully) blue sky, we hope it will make a memorable and remarkable show, where everything adds up to a higher unity."
The collection blended flouncy femininity and practicality, with fitted dresses and sporty designs merging on the runway. As the duo points out: "We love working with contrasts." Made from recycled materials, signature styles such as the brand’s seamless silk or rib tops carry into the upcoming spring/summer season. “We always love to add them in new colours and shapes,” says the duo. Beyond silk, biobased leather takes centre stage as leftover apple peels compose the new material for the brand’s bags.
The colour palette has a panache, presenting a kaleidoscope of pinks, purples, blues, and yellows alongside more muted shades of brown, beige, and dark green – earthy tones that mirror spring and summer. Delicate dots, dainty floral laces (another nod to nature), and ruffles add a touch of Spanish flair, while the prints, in collaboration with artist Amalie Cecilia, bring a subtle sprinkle of the avant-garde.
Speaking of accessories, SS24 marks the first time OpéraSport has stepped into the shoe game, partnering with The Garment Project to offer heels, sandals, and loafers – all made from 100 per cent recycled vegan leather.
