Pearl Octopuss.y's sparkling runway show eclipsed all expectations, presenting the brand's dazzling jewellery, sweeping fringe and twisted tailoring in a new light

After trepid anticipation and a few curious questions about how a jewellery brand might navigate the world of runway shows, Pearl Octopuss.y silenced all doubts with its breathtaking debut last year. The talk of the town, creative director and founder Cathrine Børter.put the brand's glittering works of wonder – handcrafted in Pearl Octopuss.y's Oslo studio – centre stage, using vintage tailoring and upcycled garments to highlight how a single piece of jewellery can utterly transform an outfit.

Inevitably, those very garments became as sought-after as the brand's usual baroque pearls and glistening twists. "We still wanted to keep the brooch as the main course," Brøter said at the time, and this philosophy carried through to Pearl Octopuss.y's second runway outing.

Staged in a film studio, set against the dramatic red backdrop of a simulated solar phenomenon, the 'Eclipse' collection eclipsed all expectations. This time around, the ready-to-wear was comprised of more structured silhouettes, building on the brand's trademark broad-shouldered blazers and befringed smoking scarves. Yet, Pearl Octopuss.y expanded its repertoire, venturing beyond the formal into the realm of high-octane casual wear, with bedazzled hoodies and show-stopping sweatshirts.

Among show-goers, the Klein blue, off-shoulder sweatshirt-turned-minidress with Pearl Octopuss.y's signature solar swirls emerged as a true show-stopper. But in truth, the crowd's consensus was that it was near impossible to single out just one standout piece in such a superbly strong collection. Whether it was the eye-catching accoutrements, the sensuous sweep of fringe, or the dazzling chain-mail halter neck top – this collection was the perfect way to close this year's Oslo Runway programme.
