Rave Review - SS25

By Clare McInerney

The Stockholm-based brand transported Milan's fashion crowds to the Swedish countryside with an ode to 'The Simple Life'

The collection shares its name with the '00s reality television series starring Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, but there were no denim dungarees or handbag-bound chihuahuas in sight. Rave Review's take on 'The Simple Life' for spring/summer '25 is a more earnest one, brimming with soft florals, classic red ginghams, even some little doll adornments – transporting showgoers to the humble scenes of a Swedish summer home in the countryside.

The show was the Stockholm-based brand's second in Milan, and third on the international runway schedule, and with that came a greater sense of self-assuredness across the 25 looks. Founders Josephine Bergqvist and Livia Schück, both Beckmans alumni, are known for their upcycling prowess which this season, ventures back to the homestead. In the past, punk-ish tartans and denims have been in focus, but SS25 plays with home textiles – think deadstock dishcloths. According to Bergqvist, the crafty little characters swinging from the models' belt loops are a nod to the "scrap dolls" traditionally made in Swedish kindergartens from any materials at hand.

The subject matter and upcycled materials may have been an ode to simplicity, but the design approach was anything but. Asymmetric panels are deftly interwoven around slip dresses, hoods and hemlines. Amongst it all, sheer panels and tactile tweeds are adeptly handled. In the words of Hilton, '"that's hot."
