Rihanna makes a case for relaxed, distressed denim in Acne Studios. Shop the look below
There have been rumours of a return to a slimmer – or, gasp, skinny – denim silhouette for several seasons now, but leave it to Rihanna to shut them down. When the singer and designer stepped out in ultra baggy Acne Studios denim in New York City, she proved once and for all that wide silhouettes aren’t going anywhere in 2025. She finished her easy out-and-about fit with a baggy charcoal grey zip-up hoodie, heaps of jewellery and a blue bandana.

But when it comes to what denim will dominate in 2025, it isn’t about the fit, but the wash. Rihanna’s low-waisted Acne Studios 2006F Trafalgar jeans feature an overly distressed treatment and paint mark details, as if she’s spent long hours in the studio (a paint studio, that is – don’t get too excited). It’s a hint towards a denim trend that’s just getting started, in which faded, destroyed and otherwise imperfect jeans take the place of uniformly dyed denim.
Best of all, Rihanna’s covetable Acne Studios jeans are still available in a handful of sizes.
