The Remain woman has received a make-over thanks to its new creative director Martin Asbjørn. And now, we can see her come to life in our own wardrobes

When previewing Martin Asbjørn's work, Remain's former creative director and current CEO, Denise Christensen, fell in love with his reimagining of the Danish brand. So much so that she insisted that her successor soft launch with a pre-fall collection. A collection that has now – finally – hit stores.

The pre-fall collection, a compelling peek of what's in store, builds on the brand's established foundation of sumptuous shearling, supple leather, and impeccable tailoring. Asbjørn's 'new' Remain is a gutsy departure, exuding a sensual allure constructed with body-hugging materials like brown tweed and silky, sheer chiffon. Classic power-dressing silhouettes are reimagined through the 'modern lens of today's empowered woman', resulting in what the designer describes as "a contemporary and confident twist".

"My inspiration is always intuitive: I look to the women I see around me. I work to bring together different components, which I believe allows them to express themselves," Asbjørn shares. "I strive to balance emotions of empowerment, vulnerability, intelligence and beauty." It's a balance beautifully executed throughout the collection, seen in the exacting tailoring – always central to Asbjørn's work – and the considered colour palette of charcoal, dove grey and chestnut with highlights of vibrant burgundy and burnt toffee.

Some micro-trends have a more perennial pull. The sultry yet sophisticated 'Office Siren' is one of them, and Asbjørn's aesthetic for Remain fits the bill with its pinstripes and pencil skirts. "I want to design clothing that expresses what it is to feel powerful yet utterly feminine at once, through delicate contrasts and fine details," says the designer. And he succeeds, the effect felt in the clash of a soft-as-butter leather coat found next to a fine-knit, sheer burgundy maxi dress in the Remain woman's wardrobe.

The first drop is released on 4 July, with the rest of the collection becoming available later in the month. Below, shop Vogue Scandinavia's favourite pieces from the new collection:
