From spotting leopard shoes to rocking red tights and 'brat' summer bag charms, these are the street style accessory trends we're nabbing from this season's Copenhagen Fashion Week attendees
Naturally, runways are always clairvoyant keyhole into what's to come. Foreshadowing next year's fashion, the industry gathers with single-minded focus on the future. With one key exception: street stylers. The nature of this sartorial subcategory is, after all, based on what is trending now.
Taking to the cobbled streets of Copenhagen our favourite tastemakers sported enviable ensembles en masse. From niche accessories to styling tricks and tips, there was an onslaught of outfits and details we want to emulate this season.
Below, find five trends we plan to incorporate in our daily wardrobe rotation right now:
Red hot for red tights
Earlier this year we noted how red stockings are red hot right now, when we spotted a sartorially savvy set add a scarlet stocking for punchy punctuation to their ensembles including supermodel Elsa Hosk, Rotate designer Jeanette Madsen, former Vogue Scandinavia cover-star Nina Sandbech and more. And it's a trend that keeps on ticking, if we're to trust the street style in Copenhagen.
Yes, you should clutch those pearls
Attending Rotate's Copenhagen Fashion Week show this season, Pamela Anderson opted for a stack of freshwater pearls to accessorise her all-white ensemble. And she was not the only sartorially savvy attendee who reached for the conservative accoutrement. Multiple show-goers gave the classic string of pearls some street style edge, pairing their pearlescent stacks with camouflage and cotton T-shirts.
Spot the leopard
Every season, the sartorial zoo changes its spots in preference of one animal print or the other. This time, its leopard that claws its way to the top as the most coveted print – especially in the form of accessories. Not only was it deemed the must-wear print this summer, it was also everywhere on the runway for the autumn ahead. That said, not everyone has Fran Fine's leopard chops, and that's why we love the subtle touch of spots in our accessories.
Wrap up like a babushka
If you're training your hair to go longer in-between washes or if you're just too lazy to do anything about second-day tousled tresses, then you'll be happy to hear that street stylers have endorsed the simple scarf this summer season. More specifically, the Copenhagen crowd is embodying babushkas this season, knotting their head wraps just under the chin. A pro tip: tie yours over a basketball hat for an elevated fashion fix.
Load up on 'brat' bag charms
Some of us may still be figuring out what the essence of 'brat' truly means, decoding the internet like sartorial sleuths. But one thing is for certain when scanning images of Charlie XCX and more – you'll need bag charms galore to fit in with these cool kids. With the amount of chains we're planning to attach to our black leather bags you'll hear us coming from miles away.
