Miu Miu announces its presence as an official partner of the Art Basel Paris public program with its special project Tales & Tellers, designed by Goshka Macuga and curated by Elvira Dyangani Ose

We've known for a long time that Miuccia Prada's talent, dedication and very thinking go far beyond the boundaries of fashion. An incomparable designer, an enlightened art lover, a woman of conviction and a subtle feminist, she handles the principle of sisterhood with rare elegance, blending all forms of expression with her passion for clothes.

Since 2011, for example, she has initiated a cinematographic dialogue with Miu Miu Women's Tales, in which female directors, in their own way, recount the multiple facets of women. Between reality and ream, they are demonstrated through images of that reflection regularly attributed to André Malraux, "the 21st century will be feminine or it won't be." And, since 2021, every Miu Miu fashion show in Paris enlivens its runway shows with scenography by young artists invited to explore a complementary understanding of women.

As part of the Art Basel Paris event, Miu Miu is taking up residence in its fashionable and traditional stronghold, the Palais d'Iéna, headquarters of the French Economic, Social and Environmental Council. Where Miu Miu's collections are presented each season, for a major interactive symposium featuring video retrospectives, installations and conversations around the famous feminine mystery.

"I've wanted to do an exhibition on the question of women for years, but there are an infinite number of groups, points of view, thoughts, religions, theories..."

Tales & Tellers brings together the myriad of stories that have, in a way, shaped the stylistic character of Miu Miu, a brand that always pushes the limits of propriety, but with the kind of playfulness and impertinence we've come to know. As Mrs Prada explains: "I've wanted to do an exhibition on women's issues for years, but there are an infinite number of groups, points of view, thoughts, religions, theories and civilisations. Today, the real difficulty is to grasp this immensity, in fashion as in politics. Nowadays, it's almost impossible to read the world. All this comes from my love of cinema: that's where my culture was formed, so as soon as I could, I tried to do something. With the Miu Miu Women's Tales project, we created a platform for talented female directors and, through their eyes, started a conversation about the world of femininity, vanity and what it means today."

To do this, Miuccia Prada asked brilliant curator Elvira Dyangani Ose, director of Barcelona's Museum of Contemporary Art, and artist Goshka Macuga to stage this real and fantasised heritage of a woman. An extremely lively background, re-orchestrated for the occasion, where you can soak up the heartfelt testimonials of Agnès Varda, Zoe Cassavetes, Ava DuVernay, Chloë Sevigny and Mati Diop, to name but a few... And perhaps, at the bend in the aisle or in a conversation, you'll run into Miuccia Prada herself, precious holder of these words, these clothes, feelings and perfumes of women...
