Founder Anna Teurnell introduces a '90s rave beat to hard-working favourites for Teurn Studios' Resort '25 collection
“I like the idea of high and low,” says Anna Teurnell. For her brand Teurn Studios, the concept of ‘high’ is nothing new: translating for Resort ’25 in the brand’s usual impeccable tailoring, luxe Italian fabrications and refined cuts. But the ‘low’, so to speak, is something very new: ’90s rave references. “I search a lot on different Japanese and Korean sites and blogs, and I’ve seen it coming up here and there,” Teurnell says of the raver-flavoured streetwear influences that form the season’s high-low balance.
Balance is the key word. Take, for instance, a look that merges a sculptural zipped leather top with oversized sweatpants. A sleek gabardine trench coat countered with a roomy hoodie. An hourglass-shaped blazer and pinstripe poplin blouse, perfectly undone by baggy boyfriend-fit jeans. Plus, a rave-inspired pièce de résistance: cloud-grey wool gabardine pocket trousers with adjustable tabs.
Amidst it all are hard-working Teurn Studios signatures, like the 'Taxi Driver' jacket, making its return in black. “In New York and Sweden when I was younger, the taxi drivers had those leather jackets that made that real leather sound when you move,” Teurnell says of the hero garment. Meanwhile, the new entrants, most notably accessories (snakeskin mules, studded and braided belts) are bound to be future signatures.
