Inspired by forest walks, Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen's collection is a treasure trove of wrap-around styles and organic shapes
Nature has always been an immense source of inspiration to Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen's lead designer and creative director, Charlotte Lynggaard. Daughter of eponymous founder Ole Lynggaard, Charlotte joined the family business as a goldsmith's apprentice in 1987. Today she sits at the helm of the house, where she carries on the work meticulous about every detail, reserving the right to be particular about the aesthetic of the family brand.
"Jewellery is the most amazing accessory in the world," she says. "A woman's most visible lifestyle preferences are fashion, accessories, hairstyle – and jewellery. Ultimately, fine jewellery is the finishing touch to every woman's individual display of personality."
A trained goldsmith, Charlotte Lynggaard enjoys the contrasts of different coloured gold, using old sanitisation techniques to polish the surface into different gilded hues. She knows how every precious material responds to being processed, how it correlates with other materials – and how far she can stretch it to meet her creative ambitions. Her craftsman's know-how is revealed in intricately detailed pieces and diamond-encrusted statement jewellery in organic shapes, true to her bohemian expression. With a breathtaking gemstone palette, she allows her audience to define their own vivid expression – opaque, translucent or glamorously glittering.
The brand's Leaves Collection perfectly embodies this careful curation of creativity, each piece a personal interpretation of the foliage she encounters on her daily forest walks. Mimicked in the rings, pendants, and earrings are the flora found outside her home, designed to wrap around fingers and the neck or adorn the ears as creole hoops.
Below, find the pieces from the Leaves Collection – organically soft, yet with an element of graphic elegance.
