It looks to be a leggy spring season this year, the mini skirt is yet again stepping up as the sartorial cream of the 'crop', making Mary Quant – one of the mini's patron design saints – proud as it stepped out on the runways of some of our favourite brands.
Acne Studios' spring/summer '24 collection played a pivotal part in putting the mini skirt centre stage, with sought -after super cropped silhouettes in every variety stepping onto the runway: think thigh-grazing flouncy handkerchief hems and ultra-sultry suede numbers with a cheeky slit loosening up the micro-mini hem. Chanel gave the mini skirt the '90s treatment, rendered in its sophisticated tweed, while Miu Miu continued to reign mini-skirt supreme with preppy allure.
With spring just around the corner, we can officially confirm that many a brand has understood our fresh desire to own one (or three). Browse our curated edit below.

Why is the mini skirt so iconic?
The mini skirt has had many a heyday, circling in and out of fashion since it was first invented by the likes of Mary Quant and André Courrèges in the 1960s. Embraced by the youth culture at the time, believe it or not, Quant first designed her mini skirt to be a part of women's working attire. At the time it seemed only reasonable, enabling women to run and move more freely. Designed with a clear vision of female empowerment – as the '60s marks the period more women joined the workforce – there's little wonder the item is over and over again introduced to the fashion scene.
