Combining Tretorn’s Swedish sensibilities with 10 Corso Como’s trademark graphic patterns, this limited-edition range of three uniquely-crafted boots is Vogue Scandinavia's favoured footing for the season ahead

Since 1991, fashion-lovers have made pilgrimage to an iconic institution in Milan: the concept store and cultural hub that is 10 Corso Como as founded by Carla Sozzani. Now led by Tiziana Fausti, the retailer – housed in a beautiful leafy complex – has carved out a global reputation as a beacon of global creativity, instantly recognisable for its swirling graphic insignia.

Now, Swedish lifestyle powerhouse Tretorn – celebrated for its century-long tradition of creating timeless outdoor gear – has come together with 10 Corso Como for an exclusive autumn/winter '24 collection. Merging its Scandinavian heritage and design ethos with the contemporary appeal of 10 Corso Como, the collaboration treats us to an exciting new iteration of Tretorn's hallmark boots.

The footwear collection of three designs leans heavily on Tretorn’s archives, incorporating elements from past designs – reimagined for a modern and discerning audience. The attention to detail is impeccable with considered touches, like the pull tabs that feature 10 Corso Como’s signature circular patterns – a stamp that elevates these boots from (oh so Nordic-friendly) functional footwear to collectible fashion items.

The Tretorn x 10 Corso Como Fall 2024 seamlessly unites two distinct yet harmonious worlds. “Our collaboration with 10 Corso Como has allowed us to blend Tretorn’s rich history with their iconic patterns, resulting in three uniquely designed boots that are both functional and contemporary,” says Carl-Henrik Hallden, Head of Design at Tretorn. In every detail, the collection reflects this shared vision, rooted in both brands' legacy and forward-thinking design.

Central to this collection are the rubber boots, a hallmark of Tretorn's product line, which has been revitalized through the creative lens of 10 Corso Como. With a strong nod to the past, Tretorn has incorporated elements from its extensive archives, specifically referencing its 1970s hiking styles. The rugged outsoles, known for their durability and grip, are updated with a sturdy and streamlined construction, bolstered by a metal shank for increased stability. These boots aren’t just designed for city living; they’re equally at home on outdoor adventures, making them a versatile addition to any wardrobe.

But what truly sets this collection apart is its emphasis on sustainability. At the heart of Tretorn’s design philosophy lies a commitment to creating more environmentally responsible products, and this ethos is evident throughout the AW24 collaboration. Each boot is crafted using FSC-certified natural rubber, a material harvested in a way that promotes responsible forestry. Additionally, the long women’s rubber boot, BRYUM, is featuring recycled neoprene lining, while the short rubber boots, YUNO for women and YUN for men, are crafted from YULEX foam laminated with recycled polyester lining, ensuring sustainability kept at the core while not compromising on style or comfort.

These eco-conscious materials echo the contemporary desire for responsible design, an element that both Tretorn and 10 Corso Como are increasingly prioritising. The use of recycled neoprene and other sustainable fabrics is more than just an aesthetic choice – it reflects Tretorn's ultimate respect for nature and considered approach to design with longevity in mind.

The trio of designs that comprise the collection are new introductions: the BRYUM, a long rubber boot for women; the YUNO, a short women’s boot; and the YAN, a short rubber boot designed for men. Each style highlights the design philosophies of both brands: Tretorn’s expertise in creating functional, all-weather footwear and 10 Corso Como’s avant-garde flair. Noteworthy is BRYUM's recycled neoprene lining, offering both comfort and insulation – perfect for navigating autumn's unpredictable weather. Meanwhile, the YUNO and YAN boots utilise YULEX foam, a sustainable alternative to neoprene, ensuring the same level of protection and style for shorter designs.

For those wanting an elevated spin on their practical footwear for the cooler months, these pieces are statement-makers in their own right. Each is versatile enough to complete casual ensembles yet durable enough to withstand the elements. And the collection’s minimalist colour palette, enhanced by the subtle yet striking 10 Corso Como details, ensures that these boots are not just accessories but integral parts of a well-curated wardrobe.
